I always loved seeing the stained glass windows in the churches when I was a kid and I wanted to learn the art. I loved how the angle of the sun and the variation of light created different images through the glass. After my kids were nearly grown, I realized I needed a hobby so I decided to learn how to create stained glass art. I watched many hours of online videos and purchased several books and then practiced and practiced and practiced. I now draw all of my own designs, many of which are inspired from my photography (yet another hobby). I truly enjoys the countless hours that I spend listening to music and creating my own stained glass pieces of art.
I draw all of my own Stained Glass Art designs and then hand cut and shape each piece of glass, foil the edges, and then solder the glass pieces together. Each section of the glass is selected specifically for its placement in the piece of art. No two pieces of art are ever the same, even when the same pattern is used. This is due to the variations in the glass color, density and texture, along with the lighting source which all combine to make the stained glass panel or suncatcher unique.
My photography, a conversation with someone, colors, textures, music, scenery, all play a part in my creativity.
