My Background
Heather is a self-taught stained glass artist who transforms glass and natural light into one-of-a-kind works of art. Inspired by her own photography, a love of vibrant glasswork, and an appreciation for how changing light transforms art, she turned a lifelong admiration into a dedicated craft. Through intensive independent study, experimentation, and countless hours at the workbench, she has built her mastery of stained glass from the ground up.
Taking pride in turning raw stained glass into captivating visual stories, Heather creates every pattern as an original design. Each piece of glass is then individually selected, cut, shaped, wrapped in copper foil, and soldered using classic Tiffany techniques. Because natural variations in the glass and ambient light make every piece truly distinct, no two artworks are ever identical.
In addition to her curated collection available through Stainedscapes.com and stainedscapes.etsy.com, Heather specializes in custom commissioned pieces, collaborating with clients to bring their unique personal visions to life.
My Process
I draw all of my own Stained Glass Art designs and then hand cut and shape each piece of glass, foil the edges, and then solder the glass pieces together. Each section of the glass is selected specifically for its placement in the piece of art. No two pieces of art are ever the same, even when the same pattern is used. This is due to the variations in the glass color, density and texture, along with the lighting source which all combine to make the stained glass panel or suncatcher unique.
